Alila Manggis – Bali

There is so much to love about Alila Manggis.  One of our favorite activities was simply relaxing on the balcony daybed of our room in the late afternoon.  We also loved the daily Afternoon tea at the pool, I’ve never tasted Ginger-Lemongrass Tea as fresh and flavorful.  What also made our experience here so unique is the offering of “Alila Experiences”.  The resort provides a catalog of activities and experiences at the resort in the surrounding area – everything from cooking classes, to scuba diving and snorkling, to trekking in the nearby ricepaddies or up Mount Agung.  A stay here can be as customized as the guest is seeking, and all fairly priced in our opinion.

Alila Manggis is on the east side of Bali, close to the village of Candidasa. The resort is roughly a two hour drive from the airport.  The waters east of Manggis teem with rich and diverse marine life and are home to seven wondrous dive sites.

The resort provides 53 rooms, half of which are Superior Suites (ground level) and the other half Deluxe Suites, along with two seaside suites. All of the rooms are modernly appointed and provide either a spacious balcony with built in daybed (Deluxe Suites) or a private terrace that opens to the well manicured lawn.

The focal point of the resort is the expansive inverted pyramid pool.  The surrounding coconut trees provide ample shade at the pool, but sun-lovers will also find plenty of direct sun along the pool as well.  The oceanfront lawn provides the perfect space for afternoon tea and the complimentary yoga and Tai Chi sessions.  The peaceful Alila Spa provides indoor treatment rooms, as well as an open-aired pavilion along the waterfront.  There is also an open-aired restaurant, reception area with lounge and computer facilities, as well as a gift shop.
