Kiree at Vanna Belle

We recently visited the Vana Belle, A Luxury Collection Resort on Chaweng Noi Beach in Koh Samui for the most incredible breakfast.  The Vana Belle is the new Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) Luxury Collection Resort located on, what we consider, the most pristine beach on Koh Samui. We were pleased for the opportunity to sample their renowned breakfast at Kiree, the resort’s signature restaurant.

We arrived at the hotel mid-morning and were greeted by the friendly bellstaff in the surprisingly understated yet contemporary chic entrance.  We had walked past the beachfront hotel numerous times on our afternoon beach walks and had commented how pleased we were to see how the hotel was constructed to blend into the surrounding scenery. Now standing at the entrance of the hotel, overlooking the blue waters of the Gulf of Thailand, it’s easy to see that elaborate decor or decorative embellishments were not needed to capture the beauty and serenity this hotel displays to its guests.

After a quick introduction and tour of the resort, we arrived at the main restaurant, Kiree, which is perched high on the resort providing views of the gorgeous waters and beachfront below.  The relaxed, yet sophisticated ambiance of the resort is carried forward into the dining area, which felt more like a comfortable home kitchen lounge with 5-star amenities, than a hotel restaurant.

Breakfast is offered from 6:30am – 11:00am and includes an extensive Western and Asian cuisine buffet, as well as a full menu of made-to-order breakfast entrees.  While the buffet alone looked as though it would more than satisfy our appetites, I couldn’t resist ordering the French Toast topped with a caramelized pineapple slice, rum-syrup and coconut ice cream (worth every calorie!), while Brenden opted for the more practical Eggs Benedict.  While we were waiting for entrees, we were invited to visit the extensive buffet.

This was undoubtedly one of the best buffets we’ve enjoyed on our trip.  They offered everything from cured meats, cheeses, fresh and dried fruits, yogurts and cereals, fresh pastries and breads, peel-n-eat prawns, smoked salmon, fresh honey comb, petit fours, and most noted a free-flow Bloody Mary and Champagne Bar! Without a doubt, our eyes quickly became bigger than our stomachs!

Our overall dining experience was excellent. Though we were dining close to the end of the breakfast hour, the restaurant staff never allowed any of the buffet stations to lapse in quantity or quality.  The made-to-order entrees were more delicious then the menu described and the waitstaff were always attentive to our requests.

While breakfast is included in most of the room rates for Vana Belle hotel guests, this impressive breakfast (inclusive of everything noted…menu items, buffet, and alcohol!) is also available to outside guests (1,000+++ Baht/person).  Reservations are recommended. This is a breakfast experience that should not be missed when visiting Koh Samui.

We were thoroughly impressed with the Vana Belle, the quality of service, room amenities, and most notably, it’s location on Chaweng Noi Beach.   If you have the opportunity to stay at the resort, we would recommend it for any special occasion, honeymoon or luxury holiday.  We hope to visit and stay on our next visit to Koh Samui.

Some of our favorite areas of the hotel included the beachfront pool (though we should note that ALL rooms here have their own private pool) and the cozy Lobby Lounge where we are told nightly Happy Hour is offered (again to hotel and outside guests).  Have you stayed at the new Vana Belle or enjoyed their impressive breakfast buffet?  What was your experience?

The Honeymoon Couple were invited guests of the Vana Belle, however the views and opinions expressed are solely our own.
