We arrived in Hanoi, Vietnam yesterday afternoon feeling a bit tired from a late night out in Bangkok the night before our flight, but managed to roam the streets of the Old Quarter in search of dinner after settling into the hotel. After a short while we found a ideally located rooftop restaurant overlooking the very busy intersection shown in the photos above. As one might imagine, the sound of car horns fill the air here day and night.
After dinner we walked over to the Old Quarter Weekend Night Market, which though we are staying in a touristic part of town, was filled with products for the locals (clothes, home goods, shoes, etc), as opposed to souvenirs often found predominantly at other Night Markets. It was a hot and humid evening in the city and the crowded market-lined street was filled with sweaty clothed humans of all ages.
It doesn’t take long to understand that to survive in this city, one much stay alert because there always seems to be a car, scooter, food cart, or person zipping at you from all directions!
