Our Day in 10 Photos – June 17 – Alila Manggis

Tuesday was such a good day!  We organized an Alila Couples Celebration Experience that included a morning of snorkeling followed by an afternoon at the White Sand Beach with lunch.  The day was so well organized and the Alila team really made it a memorable and romantic day for us.

The adventure started in the morning after breakfast at the resort restaurant.  Due to the tide, we had to take a van for a short two block drive down to where the local boats were docked on the shoreline.  We climbed aboard a traditional Balinese fishing boat called a Jukung, wide enough for only one person sitting, with two outriggers.  We then motored across the bay to the living reef that ran the length of the shoreline.  The water was crystal clear and the snorkeling was incredible.  I have snorkeled in a lot of places, and I’ve never seen coral as colorful as this.  And the fish!  I can’t wait to finalize the video of our snorkeling, there was so much marine life to view.

After the snorkeling, we made our way back to the hotel where we met up with a driver and our beach host, Suarka.  We then took a van for 30 minutes to the Pasir Putih Beach aka White Sand Beach.  The beach was stunning.  Though we thought it was going to be more of a secluded beach, the set-up Suarka created for us brought the five-star hotel luxury to the public beach.  We had a light lunch and a bottle of sparkling wine as we relaxed on the beach and took in the panoramic views of the pristine blue waters.  It was perfect. We were so grateful for the care and detail Suarka put into preparing our beach setup and lunch.  He really made the event special.

Later in the afternoon, back at the resort, we enjoyed the delicious Afternoon Tea and took a quick dip in the pool before retiring to our room for the night.  We were both beat from our fun-filled day.  I even fell asleep on the balcony!   Since we were already relaxed in our bathrobes, we decided this was the night to indulge in one of our favorite Honeymoon traditions and order room service for dinner.  It was the perfect ending to our wonderful day.
