Monday was the beginning of our visit to Mantis Collection’s Kasbah du Toubkal in the High Atlas Mountains just outside of Marrakech. This location is the perfect setting to see the Berber communities, as well as enjoy the more mild temperatures the mountains offer. Kasbah du Toubkal is the most unique accommodation as it is situated on a hilltop 1,800 meters high in the Toubkal National Park and just below the picturesque Jbel Toubkal, the highest mountain in North Africa (4,167m).
We took a private taxi out to the Kasbah. The drive was just over an hour. Adding to the uniqueness of this property, it is only accessible by foot and mule. After arriving in the town, we had a 15 minute hike up to the property. Luckily, they offered a very cute mule to carry our heavy roller-backbacks. Below are just some of the sights we saw along the drive.
After arriving at the hotel, we were able to sit down for a delicious Chicken Tagine on the open aired terrace overlooking the valley below and surrounding mountain peaks. Following lunch, we went on a two hour guided hike around the pristine area and returned back to the hotel to enjoy a private Hammam.
