Yesterday we went in search of another UNESCO World Heritage site to add to our growing list. Brenden and his mom have a running friendly competition to see which of them can visit the most sites around the world. First we stopped by the Temple of Literature, built in 1070AD as a place of study. Following that we walked over to the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, which is a UNESCO site, and served as the capital of Vietnam for eight centuries. Finally, we took a cab over to West Lake where Vietnam’s oldest pagoda, Tran Quoc Pagoda, is located.
It was a hot, hot, hot day here and the simple activity of walking around caused both of us to sweat through our clothes. To cool down, we headed back to our favorite bar, Polite Bar, in the Old Quarter, where we enjoyed a few Happy Hour beers.
