Sunday we traveled from Kuala Lumpur to Bali. The taxi trip to the airport from our hotel in downtown KL felt nearly as long as the flight! Once aboard our flight it was an easy three hours to Bali. I was happy to find two new episodes of this season’s Downton Abbey to watch on the plane’s media stations (yay!). There a great deal of turbulence throughout our flight, with one major drop that scared both of us. Thankfully, in the end we made it safely.
We arrived in Bali mid-afternoon with great excitement to get out of the airport and enjoy the afternoon. Unfortunately, our plans to explore were abruptly changed when we were met with a overly busy immigration center. Apparently, seven planes had landed around the same time we did. We had to wait in a “visa upon arrival” line for about 30 minutes, then another line for immigration for an hour and twenty minutes, and then search for our bags amongst the hundreds of other bags! It was only when we had our bags that we realized there was yet another line to wait for our luggage to be x-rayed. What an ordeal!!
Finally, hours later we were out and enjoying what we could of the late afternoon. Straight to the beach is where we headed!
PS- We took the selfie of us in our green tops because we laughed when we realized we had left the hotel with matching outfits. I guess traveling together 24/7 for nearly seven months has us unconsciously dressing in uniform. 🙂
