A couples spa experience is one of my most favorite Honeymoon activities, so when Alila Ubud invited us to experience their luxurious Spa Alila, we were more than willing.  After enjoying a hearty breakfast at the hotel’s Plantation Restaurant, we enthusiastically met Candra and Suarini at the Spa Lounge.

We were greeted with a refreshing lemongrass scented cold towel and cup of tea in the spa reception.  After enjoying our welcome drink, we were led to the hidden outdoor Lotus treatment area where we met Dorni and Ardi, our Facial Therapist and Massage Therapist respectively.  Walking into the secluded and picturesque Lotus garden and pagoda, we were swept up in the serenity of the space and we knew immediately we were in for a spoiling.  Our therapists provided us with a robe and slippers to change into before stepping out to allow us privacy to change.  They returned shortly thereafter and began our selected treatments.

Brenden opted for the one-hour Balinese massage with Alila’s Signature Essential Oil rich with lavender, lemongrass and ylang, ylang for a soothing and calming effect on the nerves.  Ever the nature enthusiast, Brenden loved experiencing his relaxing massage with the falling sounds of water in the fountain and the birds chirping in the gently rustling trees overhead.  After the treatment, Brenden noted that his therapist was helpful in treating the problem areas he pointed out during the massage.

I opted for one-hour Aromatic Facial, and it was an experience like no other.  Facials are my preferred spa treatment, when given the choice, I will choose a facial over a massage ten times out of ten. With that said, the Aromatic Facial that I enjoyed at Alila Spa was one of the best facials I’ve ever experienced.  The facial began with a twenty minute back massage before turning over to focus on my face.  The Alila Living branded oils and clay masks felt moisture rich on my skin.  And the twenty+ minute pressure point and lymphatic facial massage seemed to energize muscles in my face that longed to be massaged in such a way.  The hour of being luxuriously pampered passed quickly, yet left my skin feeling years younger.

After our treatments we enjoyed a revitalizing shower in the private outdoor facilities before changing back into our clothes.  What’s unique to the Alila Spa Ubud is that all treatment rooms incorporate an outdoor shower and powder room to allow guest to enjoy the fresh Balinese countryside air.

Alila Spa uses Alila Living branded products that are 100% natural, free from synthetic preservatives and additives and used all of the spa treatments offered.  We loved that the the Alila Living soaps are also provided in the guestrooms.  They are made locally of virgin coconut oil and smelled so good you wanted to bath all day!  The Citrus Cinnamon and Organic Volcanic soup they provided in the rooms were two of our favorites.

While we ran short of time at Alila Manggis to enjoy a spa treatment there, I wanted to share their incredible open-aired seaside treatment ‘room’.  How wonderful would a treatment feel with this view?  What is your preferred spa treatment?

The Honeymoon Couple were invited guests of Alila Spa, however the views and opinions expressed are solely our own.
